Diane Carmel Léger-Memramcok

Biography

I grew up in the picturesque Acadian village of Memramcook, New Brunswick. For 20 years I taught French Immersion in Victoria, British Columbia where a longing for my village led me to write my first novel, La butte à Pétard, a bestseller and winner of the 2006 Hackmatack Award. I also wrote and translated picture books such as Maxine’s Tree, a Canadian bestseller selected for the 1990 Canadian Children’s Book Centre Award. I now live near my village which continues to inspire me to write books for all ages.
